The annual equivalent of a Mecca pilgrimage for car enthusiasts is a visit to Monterey in August. The Pebble Beach concours, auctions, and historic races are a draw for people and cars from all over the world. I escaped for a day from the hectic pressures of Apple (on the verge of the iPhone 6 launch) to go to Laguna Seca for the historic races. One of many highlights was seeing my good friend Van Zannis's freshly restored Porsche 962.
