BMW 3.0 CSL

And now, for something different!  Well, OK, not THAT different.

My latest acquisition is another 3.0 CSL Batmobile but this time it is one of the second series of Bats.  Recall that the first series comprised 110 cars, all either white or silver.  This second series, 57 cars in total, made up the last production run of CSLs.  They are highly sought after, in part because more options were available to customers, including color choice, and the cars are consequently more varied- and scarce!  With only 57 cars to begin with, and many having fallen prey to the vicissitudes of time, they are rare indeed.

The car underwent restoration by Ron Perry in 2015. Though it was painted white when we acquired it, its original color is a rather flashy metallic green called "Taiga." Four of the 57 were painted this color— though not perhaps to everyone's taste, that is how we restored it! It's, well, distinctive, no?

At Legends of the Autobahn 2015, this Bat won First Place in the Coupe Class. This car has now been shown several times by its new owner, and received enthusiastic attention from BMW executives at the 2016 Centennial of the marque in Monterey.
